Posso afirmar com toda a certeza que este foi o voluntariado que menos me identifiquei, no entanto, Sicília e mais especificamente Palermo é de uma beleza arquitectónica sem igual. Cultura religiosa. Muitas igrejas. Ruas muito antigas e uma cidade muito direcionada para o turismo, não esquecendo que a Máfia controla cada esquina da cidade... O facto de não me ter identificado tem a ver com o público alvo: Jovens e Festivais. Alguns dos voluntários eram extremamente irresponsáveis e a líder de campo uma garota que não tinha capacidade de impor a ordem. No entanto, tudo faz parte da aprendizagem.

O local exato do Festival foi em Collesano, uma vila muito simpática a cerca de 70Km da Capital Pallermo. A vila ficava no meio da montanha, portanto,um pouco isolada, mas nada nos faltou, só não nos podíamos deslocar facilmente para outros locais. O alojamento foi num antigo convento com todas as condições para passar algumas semanas, onde até ficaram alojados alguns artistas que passaram pelo festival. Éramos cerca de 15 voluntários e as tarefas de cozinhar e limpeza do enorme espaço, passavam por todos, em modo de equipas.
Ao nível do alojamento, foi o melhor.
Ao nível da alimentação também foi bom, dependendo de quem estava de serviço na cozinha, mas a pasta e o queijo nunca faltaram.
O Grupo era muito individualista e as voluntárias da Moldávia gostavam pouco de trabalhar...
O Trabalho
O festival chamava-se Trinacria Green Festival e era essencialmente um festival de Música Reggae e Rap. Começamos por limpar o recito do festival e fazer a preparação do espaço. Limpámos algumas ruas e lagos da vila. Quando o festival começou o trabalho passou para a noite, onde uns limpavam a parte da restauração, outros davam apoio nos bastidores do palco, havia dias que trabalhávamos no bar e assim íamos rodando pelos diferentes trabalhos, durante os 3 dias de festival.
O Lazer/Divertimento
Neste ano, optei por ficar apenas 2 dias depois do voluntariado. Quando acabou o workcamp apanhei um bus para a capital de Pallermo e por lá fiquei num hostel bem simpático perto da estação de comboios que me levaria diretamente ao aeroporto no dia da partida. Optei por não sair de Palermo e em dois dias revirei aquela cidade. Nunca me senti em perigo, mesmo a andar de noite, apesar de ser avisada para ter cuidado em não fazer nenhuma estupidez pois, como disse em cima, cada esquina estava a ser vigiada pela Máfia. Sentia-me observada mas nunca em perigo. Um cidade simpática, com ainda muito por explorar.
This was the volunteer that I least identified myself, nevertheless, Sicily and more specifically Palermo is of an architectonic beauty without equal.
Religious culture.
Lots of churches.
Old streets and a city very directed to the tourism, not forgetting that the Mafia controls every corner of the city ...
The fact of not having identified to me has to do with the target public: Young people and Festivals.
Some of the volunteers were extremely irresponsible and the camp leader was a young girl who could not enforce order. However, it's all part of learning.
Travel | Accommodation | Food | Donations
The exact location of the Festival was in Collesano, a very friendly village about 70 km from the Capital Pallermo. The village was in the middle of the mountain, so a little isolated, but nothing was missing, we just could not move easily to other places. The accommodation was in a former convent with all the conditions to spend a few weeks, where even some of the artists who stayed for the festival were housed. We were about 15 volunteers and the tasks of cooking and cleaning the enormous space, passed through all, in team mode.
On the level of accommodation, it was the best.
The food level was also good, depending on who was on duty in the kitchen, but the pasta and the cheese were never lacking.
The group was very individualistic and the Moldovan volunteers were fond of working ...
Work
The festival was called Trinacria Green Festival and was essentially a festival of Reggae Music and Rap. We begin by clearing the place of the festival and preparing the space.
We cleaned up a few streets and lakes in the village. When the festival began, the work went on into the night, where some were cleaning up the restoration, others were on the backstage, helping with the artist, we worked in the bar, and so we were going through the different jobs during the 3 days of the festival.
Fun
This year I chose to stay only 2 days after volunteering. When I finished workcamp I took a bus to the capital of Pallermo and there I stayed in a nice hostel near the train station that would take me directly to the airport on the day of departure.
I chose not to leave Palermo and in two days I turned that city around.
I never felt in danger, even walking at night, despite being warned to be careful not to do anything stupid because, as I said above, every corner was being guarded by the Mafia. I felt watched but never in danger. A friendly city with a lot to explore.
