ISLÂNDIA
Para quem gosta de turismo outdoor a Islândia é de uma beleza paisagística sem descrição possível. Quando vi que havia voluntariado para limpar trilhos na montanha e ajudar na organização de um festival de flores não pensei duas vezes e candidatei-me. Foi simplesmente fabuloso. Cada esquina há uma queda de água digna de filme. Em poucos minutos o cenário
muda entre um vulcão e um praia de icebergues.
Tudo é longe de tudo.
Este projeto foi sem dúvida o de maior beleza natural.

Neste workcamp o alojamento foi numa antiga escola primária no centro da vila de Hveragerði, a sul da capital de Reykjavik. Éramos 8 voluntários e dormíamos em colchões no chão. Para o banho usávamos as instalações das piscinas locais, as quais também podíamos usar nas horas livres e antes de tomarmos o banho. Em cada canto há piscinas termais, onde se entra e se ficarmos muito tempo acabamos cozidos. A comida era cozinhada por nós e cada dia, 2 voluntários faziam as refeições: Espanha, França, Itália, Alemanha e Portugal foram as nacionalidades representadas neste workcamp.
Não vi as auroras boreais mas, tentar dormir à meia-noite e ainda ser de dia, confesso que foi algo que não foi fácil de habituar, assim como ver o sol entrar na janela às 5:00 da manhã.
Neste Workcamp o donativo era de 100€/semana, eu fiquei duas semanas no workcamp e depois mais 4 dias para explorar um bocadinho da ilha.
O Trabalho
Havia tarefas muito diversificadas, mas todas passavam pela limpeza. Começamos por limpar o espaço da vila, onde se ia concretizar o Festival das Flores. Muitas folhas no chão e erva para tirar. Apesar de ser verão, passamos algum tempo fechados em casa porque não havia condições de trabalhar à chuva.Depois do espaço limpo, começamos a limpar alguns trilhos para os turistas percorrerem. Só vantagens: limpamos, conhecemos lugares fabulosos e ajudamos o ambiente.
Uma opção a ponderar.
O Lazer/Divertimento
Quando vamos por 2 semanas, temos sempre 1 dia de folga em cada semana, aqui não foi excepção. Nas folgas, alugamos um carro, o que é uma opção excelente, mas caríssima! Conduzimos cerca de 300km para irmos fazer uma caminhada no maior glaciar da Europa: Vatnajökull, aproveitamos para irmos à famosa praia de icebergues, fomos a VIK a Godafoss, descobrimos uma das mais fabulosas quedas de águas em Skógafoss. Também conhecemos a capital Reykjavík, Geiser, e tomamos banho num rio de água morna, pois é a junção das águas dos glaciares com as temperaturas infernais de um vulcão... difícil descrever...
ICELAND
For those who enjoy outdoor tourism Iceland is of a scenic beauty without any description possible. When I saw that there was volunteering to clean rails on the mountain and help in organizing a flower festival I did not think twice and I applied. It was simply fabulous. Every corner there is a water fall worthy of film. In a few minutes the scenery
it changes between a volcano and a beach of icebergs.
Everything is far from everything.
In this project I have seen things of fabulous amazing beauty.

In this workcamp the accommodation was in a old elementary school in the center of the village of Hveragerði, south of the capital of Reykjavik. There were 8 volunteers and we slept on mattresses on the floor. For the bath we used the facilities of the local swimming pools, which we could also use in the free time and before we take the bath. In each corner there are thermal pools where you enter and if we stay too much time we end up cooked. The food was cooked by us and every day 2 volunteers dined: Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Portugal were the nationalities represented in this workcamp.
I did not see the aurora borealis but, trying to sleep at midnight and still being daylight, I confess it was something that was not easy to get used to, as well as watching the sun come in at 5:00 in the morning.
In this Workcamp the donation was 100 € / week, I stayed two weeks in the workcamp and then another 4 days to explore a little of the island.
Work
There were very diversified tasks, but all of them went through cleaning. We started by clearing the space of the village, where the Festival of Flowers was going to take place. Many leaves on the ground and grass to take away. Although it was summer, we spent some time indoors because we could not work in the rain.
After the clean space, we began to clear some rails for the tourists to travel. Only advantages: we clean, we know fabulous places and we help the environment. An option to ponder.
Fun
When we go for 2 weeks, we always have 1 day off each week, here was no exception. In our day off, we rent a car, which is an excellent option, but very, very expensive! We drove about 300km to take a walk on the largest glacier in Europe: Vatnajökull, we took to the famous iceberg beach, went to VIK and Godafoss, discovered one of the most fabulous waterfalls in Skógafoss. We also know the capital Reykjavík, Geiser, and take a bath in a river of warm water, because it is the junction of the waters of the glaciers with the infernal temperatures of a volcano ... difficult to describe...
